Picking the therapist that best meets your needs is an important step in the process. Every therapist works a little differently and every client may have unique needs and preferences.
Sometimes it comes down to cost & schedule availability, and other times finding a therapist of a particular cultural background or focus area feels helpful. I have organized my bio as follows: Approach, Background and Education to make it easy to find the info most important to you. Also, I encourage you to write or call me to so we can jointly determine if I might be a good fit for you.
Some of the ways I would identify my cultural identity include: mother, wife, feminist, Indian-American, spiritual, progressive, BIPOC and LGBTQ-ally, immigrant, multi-lingual, and nature-loving. I hope this gives you a sense of me. Request an appointment.
Aside from seeing clients at Avani Counseling, I serve as Co-Director of a non-profit, social-justice-oriented counseling center, NISD Counseling, where we train and supervise marriage and family therapists who are completing their clinical hours for California state licensure. Additionally, I am also an adjunct faculty member at San Diego State University (SDSU).

your skills and resiliencies.’
